Toby is a rescue transfer from Castoff Pets Rescue in Blairsville Georgia.

Toby had some health problems when he arrived, but he has thrived under the care of the veterinarian staff at Timberlane Animal Hospital and with the help of his foster.  He came to ECGRR with a severe ear and skin infection, an infected tooth and a large lipoma on his chest.  All of that has been addressed and he is recovering nicely.

In spite of these health issues, Toby has blossomed into a happy and charming smallish Golden Retriever and is too cute for words.  His age is estimated to be about nine years old.  He has gained weight  and is in the normal range.  The ear infection is thought to be the result of his right eardrum being perforated. He has lost hearing in that ear.  Toby’s right hind leg is weak and his head tilts to his right.  This condition appears to be neurological in origin but may lessen as his overall condition improves.

Toby finds great joy in car rides, affection, treats and his meals. He is house trained and very good around the house in general.  He’s out of the puppy age so he doesn’t chew on things.  Toby is even-tempered and although he does no know how to play, he does get along well with other dogs. He has not been tested with cats.

Toby would be well suited in a home without small children.  His “forever family” will need to help him understand what they want by using hand signals due to his deafness.  Toby loves affection and is learning how to return it.
