Red is a young male who may be a mix of Chesapeake Retriever, a little golden, a little of this and a little of that.  His age is somewhere between 1 to 2 years of age.  He is such a young, happy go lucky dog with a great temperament.  The animal shelter made a special point to contact ECGRR to find him a home.

Appearance:  Red has a short coat that has been described as golden chocolate or red brown in color.  It is soft and thick. It appears that he is getting the beginning of feathering on his hind legs. His tail is thick and furry and curls over his back when he is happy.

People and Kids:  Red likes everybody.

Animals:  See above.  Red likes everybody.  We don’t know how good he is with cats but he does like to chase the resident cat.

Skills:  Red is house trained and crate trained.  He is quick to learn. He is good at surprising you with new tricks.  He loves the water and loves fetching tennis balls from the water, loves to cuddle, loves to wrestle and loves to chase balls. His most recent new skill is jumping up to dance on the garden table. Later in the day, he will dance on his crate if allowed.

If you have been looking for a dog for agility training, this may be the dog for you!

He will bark if he hears someone outside but has not shown any signs of aggression except play aggression when tussling with other dogs.

He has a high energy level and would be great with children. He does have huge appetite and his food intake has to be monitored.

Health:  Red is up to date on vaccines, neutered and micro-chipped.  Unfortunately he is heartworm positive and will start on the heartworm treatment soon once his preliminary treatment is done.

If you would like to be considered as a candidate to adopt Red fill out the online adoption application and mention him by name.
