A Place of Hope Small Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit small breed dog rescue located in Pensacola, Florida. We rescue and re-home small breed owner surrender, stray, and shelter dogs. The dogs in our care live in private homes with our fabulous foster families in and around the Pensacola area getting lots of TLC until they are adopted. Each dog is evaluated for placement in a home best suited to its needs and personality. We adopt within a 1-6 hour drive to Pensacola, depending on the dog. We do not ship or transport our dogs. Local applicants are given first consideration.

Alaqua Animal Refuge is a one-of-a-kind, no-kill facility founded in 2007. Located on 100-acres in Freeport, FL. Initially providing shelter to only a handful of dogs, cats and other animals and requiring only a few staff members to work to find these animals permanent, loving homes, the shelter has since grown and expanded into a refuge that provides respite for over 500 animals at any given time. Facilities are often at capacity almost 100% of the time because of animal cruelty and neglect situations, and special requests for assistance from neighboring shelters in need. We do accept animals from owner surrenders on a space-available basis and for special circumstances.

Phoenix Rising Rescue (Pensacola) is a foster based rescue. This means that we do not operate out of a facility. All of our rescue dogs are either with Carrie, PRR Founder, or in foster homes with other loving families. We do hope to have our own facility one day, but for now, we are still foster based. Why bully breeds? Pit Bulls and other bully breeds have been given a “bad rap” by the media. Most of the information spread concerning pit bulls is either inaccurate or completely false.
