How can
you help?
ECGRR relies on dedicated volunteers to make our mission of rescuing these lovable fur balls a success. If you have some time to spare and a desire to help, chances are we have a volunteer position with your name on it! But wait … you say, “I can’t take care of a dog at this time” or “I don’t live near the Florida Panhandle” etc. etc. …. Well, we can still use your help. We have volunteer needs that are administrative and can be done from home.
Foster Home
Foster homes are the backbone of any rescue organization, and the most needed service that rescues have. As a foster family, you will provide a temporary home for anywhere from a couple of weeks, to a couple of months. ECGRR will pay for your foster dogs pre-approved medical treatments. We ask that you provide food, security, and love to these special animals. CLICK HERE for some articles we have about fostering. LOCATION: must reside in area of the Florida Panhandle
Shelter Contacts
A number of dogs enter our program through the many shelters and animal control facilities in the area. Since many are “kill” facilities, time is always a factor. ECGRR Shelter Contacts stay in touch with these facilities so we don’t miss any strays and to also do initial evaluations of an potential intakes. This is very much a hands on position requiring you to rub elbows and be able to visit shelters in your area of the Florida Panhandle. LOCATION: must reside in area of the Florida Panhandle
Dog Transport
As a transporter, we will contact you on occasion to take a dog to the vet, pick up dogs from shelters, pick up dogs surrendered from caring owners who for some reason need to surrender their family pet, or to take a dog to their new foster or forever home. LOCATION: must reside in area of the Florida Panhandle
Home Inspections
Duties as a home checker, require you to do an assessment visit to potential adoptive or foster homes, to ensure the home and new owners are compatible with the animal that has been selected. Home checker’s are needed in all areas of the Florida Panhandle. LOCATION: must reside in area of the Florida Panhandle
Administration
No organization can survive without forms and paperwork! Our administrative volunteers help with data entry, book keeping, follow-up calls to adopters and other related duties. This type of help is “home based” and can performed from just about anywhere you have a computer and a phone. No need to be in the FL panhandle area. Good communication and people skills are desired. LOCATION: anywhere
Grant Writing
If you have past experience with grant writing your skill set can sure help us! We need volunteers who can research, identify and apply to organizations offering grant opportunities to rescues such as ours. LOCATION: anywhere
Social Media Contact
We have a number of followers on Facebook and volunteers are needed to respond to inquiries there as well as post items of interest. LOCATION: anywhere
Fund Raising and Public Awareness
Fund raising ideas abound, and we need volunteers to make these events successful. LOCATION: anywhere, but residing or having knowledge/contacts in Florida Panhandle preferred.
Public Awareness
Word of mouth is the best and most economical form of advertisement. As a public awareness volunteer, you will spread the word about our organization and the dogs that benefit from our services. We may ask you to visit clinics and shelters, give out business cards, or work a booth to educate the public about our services. LOCATION: anywhere, but residing or having knowledge/contacts in Florida Panhandle preferred.
Other
If you have a talent that you would like to use to help us help them, please let us know. We can use graphic artist to design logos, dog behavior specialist to help us determine temperament, obedience handlers to help us teach good manners to dogs before permanent placement, etc. Veterinary professionals are always needed! LOCATION: anywhere, but residing or having knowledge/contacts in Florida Panhandle preferred.
